Inclusive Shakespeare for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Audiences

At Maynardville, we believe that live theatre should be for everyone. That’s why we are deeply committed to making our performances accessible and welcoming for Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences.

Following the heartfelt enthusiasm for our inaugural accessible performance in 2025, we’re excited to expand the programme in 2026 by adding a second show—this one exclusively for adult audiences.

  • Thursday, 5 February 2026 – A dedicated performance for school groups (scholars only)
  • Saturday, 7 February 2026 – Adults-only performance

Our SASL-interpreted performances are thoughtfully designed to be fully inclusive, ensuring Deaf audience members can engage with the story, emotions, and dialogue—right alongside everyone else in the theatre.

Our Commitment to You

We want to make it as easy as possible for Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities to attend. As part of this commitment, we are offering:

  • Sponsored (free) group tickets for schools, for Deaf scholars under 18
  • Discounted tickets at 50% off for Deaf patrons and friends and family attending with Deaf patrons
  • Plus, a Loop system will be available throughout the complete festival

We are pleased to offer a bespoke loop system designed exclusively for Maynardville to significantly enhance audio clarity for hard-of-hearing patrons. This assistive listening technology will be available for all performances during the 2026 season, ensuring an improved and inclusive theatrical experience for all audience members.
